NCCSL seminar

Environment and Natural Resources Minister Champika Ranawaka will be the guest speaker on March 16, 2010 from 3.00 p.m to 4.30 p.m at a seminar on "Global warming and global economy" to be held at the National Chamber Auditorium.

This Seminar is organized by the Environmental Committee of the NCCSL.

The Minister will speak on the current trend on global warming, its adverse impact on the environment and the repercussions to the global economy.

Today, the world is facing a multifaceted, socio-economic and environmental global crisis, namely financial crisis, fuel crisis, food crisis and water crisis due to the unsustainable use of natural resources.

One of the major causes for these environmental problems is the increase of Greenhouse Gases in the atmosphere which has resulted in global warming and climate change.

Impacts of climate change will deprive the livelihood of inhabitants.
