EC told to halt bus posters

Lanka Private Bus Owner's Association (LPBOA) has complained to Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake that private buses were pasted with election posters forcibly by supporters of candidates.

This is mostly seen in the Kegalle, Ratnapura and Gampaha districts. Association President Gamunu Wijerathne has called upon the Commissioner to take steps to prevent such occurrence as promised to his Association by the Commissioner pointing out that this was done in violation of the Election Law. According to Wijerathne, 90 percent of vehicles for election day duty will be supplied by LPBOA.

This includes transportation of election offices, ballot boxes and IDPs in the North-East.
