Rubella vaccine report submitted

The report on the death of school girl from Wariyapola following administering of Rubella injection was handed over to Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva yesterday.

The Ministry will release the final report after considering this report and the one received from Australia on the standard of the Rubella vaccine administered to the girl, a Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman the Ministry conducted a full investigation into the incident and the report was released by the Ministry's Investigation Unit. The committee which conducted the investigation was headed by Colombo University Consultant Paediatrician Prof Manori Senanayake.

The Australian laboratory functioning under the Australian Health and Ageing Ministry's purview confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the Rubella vaccine.
