down hard on all armed gangs and other disruptive elements who
attempt to create unrest and tension during the ongoing election
campaign.

Jobs on skills, not political backing
The era where youth had to go after politicians
in search of gainful employment will soon be over, President Mahinda
Rajapaksa said. President Rajapaksa said a culture should be created
where youth would get gainful employment in accordance with their
skills and knowledge without having to depend on political backing
or having to face undue hassle.

Govt allocates Rs 100m for Northern schools
The Government has allocated Rs100 million to
construct school buildings in the Northern Province under the Uthuru
Vasanthaya (Northern Spring) project. Construction of 23 school
buildings have been completed.
