Armed gangs beware
Elements will be held in custody pending
investigations:
IGP Mahinda Balasuriya yesterday vowed to come
down hard on all armed gangs and other disruptive elements who
attempt to create unrest and tension during the ongoing election
campaign.

Public help needed to fight crime - IGP
Crime is on the increase and can be completely
eradicated only with public and police participation, said Inspector
General of Police Mahinda Balasuriya. Speaking as chief guest at the
foundation stone laying ceremony for the Biyagama new police station
to be built at a cost of Rs. 70 million in Biyagama last week, he
said most criminals escaped from the law with public help.

Traitorous act by Fonseka
General Sarath Fonseka’s act to write to Channel
4 which did its utmost to paint a wrong picture of the country and
Security Forces cannot be easily dismissed, Foreign Employment
Development and Welfare Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said. It is
also a matter for suspicion to how Channel 4 obtained the material
to carry out its adverse campaign against Sri Lanka.
