If returned to power:

Ranil to remove security posts in Jaffna

Opposition and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe speaking at an election rally in Jaffna said, all security posts in security zones will be removed except army military posts.

The meeting was held to support the candidature of Vijayakala Makeswaran (wife of former MP Makeswaran) and S. Sirigajan (Journalist).

He assured if his party was returned to power he would immediately implement the following assurances.

He said, Provincial Councils will be given more powers and all communities will be given equal rights to live in equal terms with others without discrimination.

Wickremesinghe said, Pallai and Pooneryn will be developed into a modern towns with technical information facilities.

He also said, all those who are displaced from Vanni will be resettled before the Sinhala Hindu New Year.

The Opposition leader said, all those detained without sufficient evidence will be released before Deepavali.

He said, Palaly Air Port will be developed into an International Air Port and immediate relief will be given to those deemed as missing persons after proper investigation.
