Morocco is a country located in North Africa. It has a population of nearly 32 million and an area of 710.850 km², including the disputed Western Sahara which is mainly under Moroccan administration. Morocco has a coast on the Atlantic Ocean that reaches past the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered by Spain to the North, Algeria to the East, and Mauritania to the South.

Morocco is a de jure constitutional monarchy with an elected Parliament. The king of Morocco, holds vast executive powers, including dissolving Parliament. Executive power is exercised by the Government. The political capital is Rabat, and the largest city is Casablanca; other large cities includes Fes, Salé, Agadir, Marrakesh, Tangier, Meknes, Oujda and Tetouan.

The history of Morocco spans over 12 Centuries, and the country was first unified by the Idrisid dynasty in 780, representing the first Islamic State in Africa autonomous from the Arab Empire. Under the Almoravid dynasty and the Almohad dynasty, Morocco dominated the Maghreb and Muslim Spain. The Reconquista ended Almohad rule in Iberia and many Muslims and Jews migrated to Morocco.

Under the Saadi Dynasty, Morocco would consolidate power and fight off Portugese and Ottoman invaders, as in the battle of Ksar el Kebir.

Morocco has a rich culture and civilization, which remained mainly indigenous throughout times and the Moroccan cuisine has long been considered as one of the most diversified cuisines in the world. The population is almost entirely Arab-Berber. Although Moroccan Arabic is the majority language, modern studies show that the Arabization process in Morocco was mostly cultural. The Moroccans or Moroccan Arabs, are a largely homogenous group speaking Moroccan Arabic, although regional variation does occur. The Berber people in Morocco can be divided in three main groups with different dialects. The Riffians, the Chleuh and the Central Moroccan Amazigh.

Volcano brings travel chaos to Europe

I am sure you children have been watching the news about the eruption of the volcano in Iceland.

You all must be familiar with this picture. Nature has once again shown her power with the eruption at the Eyjafjallajokull volcano.

The Icelandic volcano which has brought travel chaos to Europe. According to scientists this eruption will bring more misery to air travellers. The Eyjafjallajokull volcano began erupting on April 14 sending ash several kilometres into the air, and generating a plume of particles that has spread across much of Europe.

Eyjafjallajökull, translated as 'island-mountains glacier'is one of the smaller glaciers of Iceland. It is situated to the north of Skógar and to the west of the larger glacier Mýrdalsjökull. Aviation experts say that the tiny particles of rock and glass spewed out by the volcano - while almost invisible to the naked eye - pose a serious threat to aircraft jet engines and could cause a catastrophic failure.

As a result, countries across Europe have shut down all or part of their airspace, grounding tens of thousands of flights and stranding millions of passengers.

Dear Children let me wish you all an educative, information filled and funfilled week ahead. Bye for now. - Aunt Anji

- Part 18

More mischief In 'Kid's Den'...

Four children, Pramodaka, Nalaka, Champika and Chinthaka, go on a trip to the woods with their parents for their school holidays. In the middle of the night the children are awakened by a strange noise. On following their dog, Scooby, Chinthaka is snared by the spell of the 'luring stones'. Pramodaka departs with Ruwi, a pixie, to recall a book of spell to cast off the spell while the others remain behind with Sachi, a gnome. A storm breaks and the kids are scattered.

Meanwhile Sulo, the goblin who is always trying to make trouble for the mythical creatures, comes up with a nasty plan. She rushes off gang up the rest of her pack and reveals an age old secret.

However the group discovers that it is not only Sulo's secret that is uncovered by the storm. Something dark and deadly had been hidden in the depths of the earth waiting to release itself and return for revenge...

('Return of the Kids' is the sequel to 'Kid's Den')

Russell looked guilty, Pradesh pained and the rest of the forest creatures gathering around the table looked outraged as they looked on in amazement at goblin.

Sulo cast one desperate glance around and slipped away before anyone could follow it. Only Jay remained calm throughout the incident.

"Why did you let it get away? It is the root of all the evil deeds taking place in here. How could you remain so calm and silent?", Iza questioned.

Both Annie and Gerry followed his graze for they too were puzzled about Jay's reaction. A sarcastic smile was playing on Jay's lips.

"Let it go," he whispered. Iza frowned but did not question his decision but Dudders looked highly offended.

"Look Jay. I know you are in the habit of letting traitors pass without punishment," he paused to shoot a look of venom at Pradesh before continuing with "but I don't think you are setting a good example. This will encourage more mischief."

Jay's graze shifted onto the hedgehog. His spikes were spread all around in anger and Angela the chipmunk and HE were doing their best to say as far away from them as possible to avoid injury.

"It had learnt its lesson already for it had become an outcast in society...", he said. His eyes wandered to Pradesh. The goblin was hunched with fear but he realized that he knew nothing about the matter. Pradesh was sly but not stupid. Russell, on the other hand tend to do silly things lead by his emotions.

"Friends, listen to me. I have made a grave discovery. We mythical beings believe that we are indifferent to worldly matters. However I realize that the situation had changed over time... Even I tend to be quick tempered at times. The gnomes have become victims to these feelings and lesser pleasant creatures tend to take advantage of this. We should guard our emotions or we are in the danger of losing the great magic handed down to us by our ancestors," he said.
