Today (May 29) marks the 120th birth anniversary
of Martin Wickramasinghe, Sri Lanka’s greatest writer of
contemporary times. He is a self-taught individual whose formal
education was cut short by the economic difficulties of his family
following the demise of his father.

So, after 30 years we took the challenge to defeat terrorism; so we
took that challenge and won. Now it is the economic development, so
we do that. Within one year, we resettle the people. Ninety percent
have been resettled. By December, everyone will be resettled in this

Let’s hail DA Rajapaksa’s gift to the nation!
Let us recall the great challenge we faced in
uniting this once fragmented nation! The country was engaged in a
life and death struggle for three long decades. The current
reconstruction and development process of the country would
certainly have been a distant dream if the LTTE terrorist conflict
persisted. There came a man from the deep South to resolve the
crisis and to take his country on the forward march.
