Suspect arrested after 15 years

 A group of Policemen attached to the Nuwara Eliya Deputy Inspector General’s Office arrested a suspect for a murder committed in 1995 and absconded Police for 15 years. Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said the suspect committed the murder of a 26-year-old woman at Millagahamula, Pussellawa in July 1995 and fled the area. Police arrested the suspect from Nawalapitiya area Sunday.

Eleven in special custody escape from court cell

Eleven suspects held in special custody fled from their cell at the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Prison Commissioner and Spokesman Canet Fernando told the Daily News that ten of them were already convicted in separate cases and were serving sentences and they were produced before the Court for allegedly selling heroin inside the prison.
