ANCL supports winners to participate at the global
competition:
Local advertising professionals for Cannes Lions
Five young advertising professionals from the Sri Lankan advertising
industry were selected to represent the country at the annual Cannes
Young Lions Competition, (film and print categories) and the Roger
Hatchuel Academy 2010.
A preliminary competition was organised by the Association of
Accredited Advertising Agencies (4A's) together with MetalFactor - the
representative for the Cannes Lions Festival in Sri Lanka, to select the
best young talent from among Sri Lankan advertising professionals to
represent the country at this annual festival.
Shayani Obeysekere and Samantha Weerawardene from Leo Burnett and
Udara Vithana and Dishan Coilparampil from JWT in the print and TV
categories respectively, will be representing Sri Lanka in the Cannes
Young Lions Competition.
Malaka Premasiri from Grant McCann Erickson will be representing Sri
Lanka at the Roger Hatchuel Academy, which is conducted alongside the
Cannes Lions festival.
The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd under the Daily News
sponsored the Young Lions print competition and has extended their
support to the winners to participate at the global competition.
The challenge presented by ANCL to the team was to market the "The
Wisdom" series which is a new supplement issued along with the Daily
News.
ANCL and Lipton came forward to support this initiative to
demonstrate their commitment to the advertising industry and to help
develop the young professionals in the industry.
The Cannes Young Lions program is conducted at the internationally
renowned Cannes Lions International Advertising festival which is held
in the final weeks of June in Cannes, France.
The Cannes Lions Festival identifies and rewards the creative talent
of marketing communication professionals from around the world.
