Schools netball tourney from August 5 to 7

The Milo All Island Schools Netball Tournament will take place on August 5,6 and 7 at the Bernard Aluvihare Stadium Matale.

A record number of 900 schools will participate at this tournament in four age groups namely, under 12, 14, 16,and 18.

This schools netball tournament began in 1992 and has provided several opportunities to school girls to enhance their chances of representing the country at International level.

Last year too, 900 teams from 14 centres took part. 224 teams qualified to play in the 'A' division while 114 qualified to compete in the 'B' division.

Last year teams from Kurunegla dominated with Y. Tennekoon, Best player Under 12 (Maliyadeva BV), Natasha Sooriyarachchi, Best player under 14 (Holy Family Kurunegala), Uthpala Perera Best player under 16. (Holy Family, Kurunegala), Vindya Samaraweera, Best player under 18 Kalutara BV. (RA)
