Mendis out to torment Indians

Sri Lanka sans Muralitharan and Malinga for second test:

The Lankan bench strength would be severely tested when they take on the Indians today at the SSC ground in the second Test match as they would be missing the services of pace ace Lasith ‘linger’ Malinga and spin wizard Muthiah Muralitharan. Malinga is rested as he is nursing a stiff knee, while spin wizard Muthiah Muralitharan retired after the first Test match. This is a relief for the Indian batsmen.

Nayana and Kaushalya pilot Ragama CC to innings win

Dashing middle order batsman Nayana Priyanjana hit a career best 185 with nine sixes and 13 boundaries and Kaushalya Gajasinghe took a match bag of nine wickets as Ragama CC outplayed CCC by an innings and 104 runs with a day to spare in their SLC Under 23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Seylan Bank, Navy and Maliyadeva - netball champions

The first of the many netball tournaments planned for this season dazzled Trincomalee on July 24 and 25. Six teams in the ‘A’ division, 23 teams in the ‘B’ division and 10 teams in the ‘C’ division took part in the tournament.
