Ratmalana DS wins ISO award

For third consecutive year:

The Ratmalana Divisional Secretariat(ds) had received the International Standardization Organization(ISO) certificate for best office management for three consecutive years.

The productivity award for best Divisional Secretariat in the Colombo district was won by the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat.

According to Colombo District Secretariat sources, the productivity certificate awarding program was organized by the Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry while the ISO program was presented by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.

These awards had been presented at the ceremony organized to appreciate the service of Divisional Secretariats in Colombo district recently.

The Ratmalana Divisional Secretariat was also able to win the productivity award too on an earlier occasion.

Participating at a seminar organized on the same day at the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat for Divisional Secretariats and Grama Niladaris of the Colombo district, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne said that the public service should be adapted to matters related to help people with their day to day matters.

The public service by Grama Niladaris to Divisional Secretariats should be subjected to radical transformation to fulfill this requirement.

Minister Seneviratne highlighted the importance of the Grama Niladari service and said they should able to identify the burning problems of the community at grassroots level.

Their services should be extended to address other problems such as non- schooling children of poor families.

The type of issues can be easily resolved at village level after discussing matters with certain sponsors at village level. " This is the transformation that the country needs today", he added.
