US planes kill 16 in Pakistan
PAKISTAN: At least 16 people died Saturday during an air raid
launched by US drones against an alleged bastion of Islamic rebels in a
tribal zone in northwestern Pakistan. According to Geo TV, the drones
launched five missiles on a building in Angora Adda, a locality in
Southern Waziristan. So far 16 corpses have been recovered among the
rubble, but the number of victims could increase because of the serious
state of injured people, added the TV channel.
The United States justifies its air raids within the Pakistani
territory by saying that elements of the Afghan Taliban and Al Qaeda
network are hidden in the tribal zones of Northwestern Pakistan and that
they are waging war on its troops stationed in that neighbour country.
