Met Dept predicts wet weather

Heavy rains are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the next few days, according to the Meteorology Department.

Thunder showers too will develop, specially in Southern and Western areas, accompanied by fairly strong temporary localised winds at times.

While strong winds lashed Colombo yesterday morning, the met department said this may only last for 20 to 30 minutes at a time and the severity would decrease during the coming days. The sudden change of weather has been attributed to active monsoon conditions.

Except for the North-Eastern and Eastern, sea areas elsewhere are expected to be very rough.

Showers too are expected in these sea areas.
