Matale's cashew cultivation bears fruit

The Cashew cultivation program launched by the Sri Lanka Cashew
Corporation has achieved good progress in Matale district within the
last few years.
According to the officials, about 10,000 acres have been used to
cultivate Cashew while bare land can also be used for Cashew
cultivation. Cultivators reap a good harvest from half of the entire
Cashew cultivation while over 500 metric tons are collected yearly.
In addition, 180 acres are also to be utilized for Cashew cultivation
within the current year covering the dry zone of Matale district, a
spokesman for Sri Lanka Cashew Corporation said.
