Rain havoc in N’ Eliya

The howling strong winds and three day continuous heavy rains have affected cultivations in the Nuwara Eliya district.

Vegetable and tea crops have been destroyed in certain areas within the district. The Maskeliya dam sluice gates were opened due to overflowing.

The heaviest rains were experienced in Dickoya and Norton Bridge. Meanwhile, students sitting for the fifth standard scholarship were seen going to their centres early yesterday.
