Women have become the key contributors to the national economy. They play the lead role in industries such as tea, garment and also in foreign remittances. Women have a strong will that is the strength of empowerment, Women Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 awards Panel of Judges Chairperson Shiranee Thilakawardena said.

Demand for directory services increasing

Demand for directory services are increasing rapidly with over eight percent growth annually in Sri Lanka. Information Technology (IT) has become an essential service today. The access to information is vital. There are around 17 million users accessing information through the national directory, SLT Publications (Pvt) Ltd., General Manager Sales and Marketing, Ruwan Wijetunge told Daily News Business.

Avoidance of double taxation:

Sri Lanka - Luxembourg to negotiate

Attract more investments:

The Luxembourg Foreign Affairs Ministry has agreed to enter into negotiations with the Sri Lanka Government on an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on incomes between Luxembourg and Sri Lanka.
