The Government will allocate large sums of money for rural
infrastructure development projects this year and expect the
co-operation of the Communication Information Technology sector which
will in turn boost human resource development in the country, said
Co-operatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando at
Kurunegala last Tuesday.
The Minister was speaking at a discussion held at his residence at
Titthawella.
Representatives of leading businessmen in the area participated.
Minister Fernando said this discussion was fruitful for the speedy
development in the Puttalam and Kurunegala districts.
He said he has been endeavouring to encourage the co-operative
societies and farmer organizations to step in to the field of purchasing
as much paddy as possible from the farmers in Kurunegala and Puttalam
districts. The treasury has granted money to purchase paddy through
co-operatives and farmer organisations. |
