President reunited nation:

All should support Constitutional Amendments - Nayaka Thera

Bentara-Walallawita Korale Chief Sanghanayaka Ven Batuwanhene Buddharakkhita Thera in conversation with Highways Deputy Minister Nirmala Kotalawela when the latter called on him at the Kande Viharaya, Aluthgama.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa reunited the nation after liberating the country from terrorism and as such every one should support the Constitutional Amendments proposed by the government to help him develop this country as the Wonder of Asia, said Ven Batuwanhene Buddharakkhita Chief Sanghanayaka Thera of Bentara-Walallawita Korale and Viharadhipati, Kande Viharaya Aluthgama.

The Nayaka Thera expressed these sentiments delivering an anusasana when Highways Deputy Minister Nirmala Kotalawela called on him to explain matters relating to the proposed 18th amendment to the constitution yesterday.

As the leader who reunited this country President Mahinda Rajapaksa should get unstinted support and co-operation of the people for the success of his efforts to make the country victorious on the economic front too, the Chief Sanghanayaka thera said.

Deputy Minister Kotalawela explained that the proposed amendments would not prolong the President's term of office but would help enhance sovereignty of the people.

The adoption of the amendments would never pose a threat to the freedom and sovereignty of the people as alleged by the opposition to mislead people. The opposition is trying to make this an issue to hide its political bankruptcy.
