President reunited nation:
All should support Constitutional Amendments - Nayaka Thera

President Mahinda Rajapaksa reunited the nation after liberating the
country from terrorism and as such every one should support the
Constitutional Amendments proposed by the government to help him develop
this country as the Wonder of Asia, said Ven Batuwanhene Buddharakkhita
Chief Sanghanayaka Thera of Bentara-Walallawita Korale and Viharadhipati,
Kande Viharaya Aluthgama.
The Nayaka Thera expressed these sentiments delivering an anusasana
when Highways Deputy Minister Nirmala Kotalawela called on him to
explain matters relating to the proposed 18th amendment to the
constitution yesterday.
As the leader who reunited this country President Mahinda Rajapaksa
should get unstinted support and co-operation of the people for the
success of his efforts to make the country victorious on the economic
front too, the Chief Sanghanayaka thera said.
Deputy Minister Kotalawela explained that the proposed amendments
would not prolong the President's term of office but would help enhance
sovereignty of the people.
The adoption of the amendments would never pose a threat to the
freedom and sovereignty of the people as alleged by the opposition to
mislead people. The opposition is trying to make this an issue to hide
its political bankruptcy. |
