NWP to restore religious places

The North Western Provincial Council has launched a special program
to restore religious places belonging to all faiths. Under its first
stage, 33 selected places of worship were provided with monetary
assistance last Friday by NWP Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe at a
function held in Kurunegala.
Accordingly, each religious institution received Rs 50,000 and 29
Buddhist temples, a Hindu Kovil, a Catholic church, a Devale, a mosque,
received monetary donations covering both Kurunegala and Puttalam
Districts of the NWP.
The deserving places of worship for these aid were selected by
Provincial Councillors.
Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe emphasized that this program of
restoring places of worship covering all religions in the province would
continue in the coming years too. |
