Indian Chief of Army on goodwill tour
Indian Army Chief of Army Staff General Vijay Kumar Singh will be
arriving in Sri Lanka tomorrow on a five day official visit.
He will be here on the invitation of Army Commander Lieutenant
General Jagath Jayasuriya.
The Indian Army Chief’s five-member delegation comprises Army Wives
Welfare Association (AWWA) President Bharti Singh, Infantry Division
General Officer Commanding Major General Harminderjit Singh Sachdev,
Military Assistant Brigadier Jatinder Pal Singh and Aravinder Kaur.
General Singh is scheduled to call on the President, Prime Minister,
External Affairs Minister, Defence Secretary, Chief of Defence Staff and
Army, Air Force and Navy Commanders.
He is also scheduled to pay floral tributes to the Indian Peace
Keeping Forces memorial at Battaramulla. The Indian Chief of Army Staff
is expected to interact with the Commander of the Army and exchange
views on bilateral issues of military interest with special focus on
sharing of Sri Lanka Army’s recent battle experiences with partners in
the Asian region.
General Singh is also expected to meet Vanni Security Forces
Headquarters Commander in Vavuniya and visit Indian de-mining site at
Omanthai, prior to his visit to places of religious and cultural
interest at Anuradhapura. He is also scheduled to visit Trincomalee,
Diyatalawa and Kandy. |
