Rupavahini State Awards ceremony

The Rupavahini State Awards Ceremony will be held under the patronage of Prime Minister D M Jayaratna and with the participation of National Heritage and Cultural Affairs Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi and Deputy Minister Gunaratna Weerakoon at the Youth Center - Maharagama on September 14, National Heritage and Cultural Affairs Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said. She was addressing a press conference at the National Museum Auditorium yesterday.

The National Heritage and Cultural Affairs Ministry and Cultural Affairs Department will provide awards under 32 categories for television programs which were telecast in 2009.

They will also present an award to the best literary work dealing with television field.

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to appreciate new creators who have produced new television short films which were not telecast yet.

Out of received television creations awards will be given for 35 creations. Further special awards for three programs and merit awards for six programs will also be given.

There were 378 television creations during the year 2009.
