Maximum penalty for peace violators - Defence Secretary

The government yesterday stressed that it will deal firmly with terrorist elements who were responsible for recent incidents in several parts of the country. According to Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the maximum punishment will be meted out to the criminals who were involved in the murder of a policeman in Puttalam.

Twenty five held over PC’s killing

Around 25 suspects were arrested over the killing of Police Sergeant Nawarathna Bandara who was attached to the Puttalam Police traffic unit, Puttalam Police sources said. Around 15 suspects were arrested in connection with the murder, while 10 were arrested over their involvement in the commotion.

Angulana murder case order tomorrow

The Trial-at-Bar consisting High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundera (Chairman), High Court Judge W.T.M.G.B. Warawewa and High Court Judge Kumudini Wickremasinghe, hearing the Angulana Police Station double murder case put off the order for August 25.
