Govt. seeks ICC help to inquire into financial irregularities and corruption at SLC

On an understanding reached between the Government of Sri Lanka and International Cricket Council (ICC), a committee will be appointed to inquire into financial irregularities and corruption which had taken place at Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in the past.

The committee which will be appointed in the next few days will comprise two persons from Sri Lanka Cricket and three persons representing the Government.

It will start functioning once the ICC gives permission. According to the present constitution of SLC, there is a possibility of any person elected to SLC indulging in financial irregularities.

The main task of the five member committee will be to amend the constitution of SLC and re-structure it within a period of one year.

In addition, this committee will also take over the financial management of the SLC.

It will be under the supervision of ICC and the Government of Sri Lanka.
