The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Joint Trade Unions Forum demanded the removal of Ports Authority Chairman Dhammika Ranatunga and Ports and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunga.
The trade unions will continue to protest unless remedial action is taken to see that justice is done, Joint Trade Unions Forum Convener Presanna Kalutharage said. He was addressing the media at the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen Association yesterday.
"Many individuals without qualifications or suitability to posts have been appointed by the administration," he added.
"All these trade unions worked together to throw out the Rajapaksa family rule and to elect a government of good governance, yet we do not see any change in the style of administration," Kalutharage said.
"They requested that annual bonus should be increased up to Rs 150,000 and the irregularities in the incentive payments need to be rectified immediately," he said.
