Foundations were laid for the construction of a garbage recycling project under the Pilisaru project of the Central Environmental Authority at the request of the Ruhunu Kataragama Basnayake Nilame D. P. Kumarage. The project is estimated to cost Rs.4,322,456.83, according to the the Project Manager. He said the construction work would come to a climax by July this year. He said the supervision work of the project had been entrusted to the Moneragala District Secretariat.
The project Director said soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army would engage in the construction work, while the project is funded by the Central Environment Authority. Viharadipathi of the Kiriwehera Raja Maha Viharaya in Kataragama Ven. Kobawaka Dhamminda thera, Ven. Kapugama Saranatissa thera and District Secretary Moneragala Pathma Kulasooriya were present at the occasion.
