Raviraj Murder Case: Special jury allowed

 

Colombo High Court Judge Manilal Waidyatilaka today, permitted a special jury to hear the trial on the murder of former TNA Jaffna District MP Nadaraja Raviraj.

The defendant’s attorney had requested a special jury including Sinhala speaking members earlier this month.

The Attorney General filed indicments against six accused, earlier this year.

The accused - Palana Sami Suresh alias Sami, Prasad Chandana Kumara alias Sampath, Gamini Seneviratne, Pradeep Chaminda alias Vajira, Sivakanthan Vivekanandan alias Charan and Fabian Royston Tusen are charged on five counts under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and Penal Code.

Raviraj was shot dead near his residence at Manning Town in Narahenpita during the period between November 9, 2006 and November 10, 2006.
