China Products (Colombo, Sri Lanka) Exhibition 2016 was inaugurated by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rishad Bathiudeen while the ceremonial opening was graced by Li Yiwei (Deputy Secretary General of The People’s Government of Guangdong Province), Lin Tao (President of China Council Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee), Wolfgang (Managing Director of Worldex Fiera Milano (Guangzhou) Exhibition Co. Ltd.), Wu Chupeng (Vice General Manager of CMEC International Exhibition Co., Ltd.), Thilak Godamanna (President of National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka) and Rajesh Bhagat (Managing Director of WorldEx India). Many distinguish guests representing leading trade bodies from Sri Lanka were also present at the opening event.

Rajesh Bhagat, Managing Director of WorldEx India expressed his views by commenting “second edition of China Products show has more than doubled in size and this year CMEC from China has brought more machinery companies to participate in the event. We believe Chinese machinery would help Sri Lankan manufacturing to become more competitive and this exhibition would create a bridge between Sri Lankan and Chinese businessmen to explore trade and investment opportunities. We believe that bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and China would be further expanded by trade events like this. This exhibition was widely supported by Sri Lankan trade bodies and also from the China side the CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade) and Trade Development Bureau of China. I am sure this exhibition will be very welcome by the Sri Lankan community.”

The Exhibition is organised jointly by The China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Guangdong Committee), China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation (CMEC), and Worldex Fiera Milano Exhibitions (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd. for which National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) extend fullest support by joining-in as the Industry Partner of the event.

The President of The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), Thilak Godamanna said, “The National Chamber of Commerce is extremely happy to be associated with the China Products (Colombo, Sri Lanka) Exhibition for the 2nd time in Sri Lanka and for inviting the Chamber again to be the Industry Partner, for this year too.

Today Sri Lanka is one of the steadily growing economies in the world with a GDP of around 5%. China is the important trading partner for Sri Lanka and shows great promise as an emerging export market of Sri Lanka.”

“This exhibition is very important for Sri Lanka because they are exhibiting the product that they are manufacturing in Guangdong Province, the largest Province and it is the first Province to open up to export Chinese products. We have to take the initiative and we have to make a positive impression for them to come here and invest, have their production here as well,” he said.
