Five corruption cases filed against former Minister Johnston Fernando for non-declaration of assets and liabilities as a Parliamentarian for five years were yesterday re-fixed for trial on March 21 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
When the five corruption cases came up before Chief Magistrate Lal Bandara, the first witness of the case was not present in Court.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Bribery Commission alleged that the former minister had failed to declare his assets and liabilities five years from 2010 to 2014.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption had filed charges against the former Minister in the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court under Section 9 of the Declaration of Assets and Liabilities Law No. 1 of 1975.
Kamaladasa Senanayake, a coordinating Secretary at the Presidential Secretariat had been named as the first witness in the case, and he was noticed to appear in Court on the next trial date.
