Wimal Weerawansa to sit independently: Speaker’s decision to be announced on March 7

The Speaker’s decision on the request by NFF Leader Wimal Weerawansa to sit as an independent group in Parliament will be announced on March 7.

This has been agreed at the Party Leaders’ Meeting held yesterday afternoon.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya informed the House that he wishes to obtain legal advice before coming to a decision on the matter.

MP Weerawansa and four MPs of the National Freedom Party requested to recognize them as independent MPs in the Opposition.
