Hong Kong’s flag carrier, Cathay Pacific Airways’ Sri Lankan operations has continued to achieve steady growth in terms of passenger load factor as well as cargo operations over the years.
“It has been a fantastic journey for Cathay Pacific in Sri Lanka. Cathay Pacific currently operates a daily passenger flight direct between Colombo and Hong Kong as well as a thrice-weekly freighter service to Colombo.”
Cathay Pacific Airways Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives Aldric Chau told Daily News Business that Cathay Pacific has seen steady growth over the years in terms of passenger load factor primarily led by the growing Chinese inbound movement coming into Sri Lanka. Cathay Pacific regularly reviews its operations and analyses the scope of adjusting operations to suit market demands. At present, Cathay operates a daily passenger service and thrice weekly freighter from Colombo.
Cathay Pacific has made some great strides and received excellent response from the market since it commenced operations in Sri Lanka.
In order to boost business growth, Cathay has also adopted a new business model which basically focuses on business development activities at Cathay Sri Lanka’s unit.Cathay Airlines currently operates flights from Colombo to Korea, China, Japan, Australia and China via Hong Kong .
A Cathay Pacific Airways senior official in Hong Kong speaking to Daily News Business, said that Cathay has incorporated specific needs and wishes of customers broadening its services to bring innovative products and new experiences to customers both in-flight and on the ground, to provide a better end-to-end travel experience for passengers flying with Cathay Pacific.
“This is what makes Cathay Pacific different from other airlines”. In addition, the airline’s decision to roll out premium economy cabin section,have really paid off, the official said adding that the response has been fantastic and there is a significant increase in the occupancy rates over the years.
Cathay Pacific boasts of serving nearly 200 destinations in North America, Australia, Europe and Africa and operates the youngest fleet in Asia.
