Honest politicians shun shady deals - Sujeewa Senasinghe

Politicians working according to their conscience will not resort to bribe taking, earning commissions and other shady deals. If there is clean politics, the country will gain development and prosperity transforming it to a paradise, International Trade State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe said.

He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the second stage of a beauty culture programme for women organised by the Sujeewa Senasinghe Women’s Foundation at the Talahena Sri Bodhirukkharamaya recently.

Senasinghe said the people are fed up with the unruly behaviour of some of their representatives in Parliament.

He said they did not expect misbehaviour in Parliament which is maintained with public money. People with different characters are elected to Parliament under democratic elections. They include representatives who are committed to create a disciplined society as well as rougues who act in an unruly manner in Parliament reflecting their indiscipline at home. he said. State Minister Senasinghe said people should exercise caution and elect disciplined and virtuous individuals as their representatives to Parliament and other provincial and local government institutions.
