Anura Senanayake requests CID to Arrest real killers of Thajudeen

Making a startling statement in Court, former DIG Anura Senanayake who is in remand custody over an investigation pertaining to the murder of former rugby player Wasim Thajudeen yesterday requested CID to arrest the real killers who were involved in the murder of Wasim Thajudeen through a comprehensive investigation.

Former DIG Senanayake moved Colombo Additional Magistrate J. Trotsky that relief be granted to him since he is in remand custody over a period of 10 months without substantial evidence to prove that he was involved in the murder of Thajudeen.

He further informed Court that the CID has failed to arrest real culprits even after a lapse of two years, initiating investigations into the incident. Meanwhile, counsel who appeared on behalf of Wasim Thajudeen’s family members complained that the authorities have failed to arrest former Colombo Chief JMO Prof. Ananda Samarasekara who is responsible for the missing of several bones and other parts of former Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen’s body. Counsel who appeared on behalf of the Sri Lanka Medical Council told Court that the Council is yet to conclude its inquiry against three JMOs including Prof. Ananda Samarasekara. The CID told Court that they have sought Attorney General’s advice regarding the investigations pertaining to former chief JMO. Meanwhile, former Western Province Senior DIG Anura Senanayake arrested over their alleged role in the cover up of evidence in the former rugby player Wasim Thajudeen murder and conspiring to commit a murder was yesterday ordered to be further remanded till March 30 by Colombo Additional Magistrate. Deputy Solicitor General Dilan Ratnayake appeared for the Attorney General.
