Swift measures to control dengue

The Health Ministry has taken swift measures to control the soaring number of dengue cases in the Kinniya MoH division by implementing a crash programme to clean and fog all schools and put mosquito destroying chemicals into wells.

Arrangements have also been made to clean and fog all schools in the Trincomalee city limits.

The Ministry has already issued directives to upgrade the clinical care facilities at the Trincomalee General Hospital and the Kinniya Hospital to cater to a large number of patients.

High Dependency Units have been established for dengue patients in those hospitals. The Ministry has also deployed additional doctors and consultants, the sources said.

“The Health Ministry has also deployed PHIs and Civil Defence Force personnel for mosquito eradication activities in the affected areas,”sources added.
