Signing or declaring statements will not help in our part of the world. There has to be a strong law for those responsible in de forestation of lands. They should be given a maximum sentence without bail and hard labor. In Sri Lanka its the politicians who are responsible for evil act.

Now you know there will only be declarations ....not enforcement's if enforced we may have to relocate the entire parliament to the facility of the prison.

The enforcement falls far short of the Law. The police seem to be always there to protect the corrupt politician rather than the people.

Sad story to have used the refugees to gain forest land , when there is their own land and even other habitable lands. The remaining natural forest land , wherever it may be, is very important , and the promotion mainly of commercial forest is not the solution nor the alternative.. Once they get established , there will be further encroachment like the the tea lands adjoining forest areas , and will lead to the decimation of wild life, which will be illicitly killed for supply to the mushrooming of hotels. This has been going on for some time, and even Kataragama hotels supply wild life meat with their meals. This should not be tolerated , and corrupt officials should also be prosecuted for neglect of duty.

1. By the 2017 Mawillu Forest Conservation Ordinance, about 281 acres of privately own land is brought under the forest in Musali DSD. 2. Major part of privately owned land is coming under the forest of Veppal and 2012 Marichcikaddi -Karadikkuli forest. So people are demanding the withdrawal of Veppal done in 2009 and 2012 declarations.. 3. Also, Muslim IDPs are demanding a presidential commission to look into all of the IDP issues for recommendations. 4. There can be alternative proposals, but the but they should come thru an appointed presidential commission. 5. People of the area have been never consulted on the acts in place now. 6. Mainly president signed the gazette notification 3 days before the 2 week time for any objections from the public. 7. President failed to have proper have sufficient knowledge about the issue.
