Thunderstorms likely in several provinces

The meteorology department yesterday said that showers or thundershowers will occur at most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m, in the next few days. Showers can be expected in the Western and Southern provinces during morning too, the Met. Dept. said. Fairly heavy falls (above 50mm) can be expected at some places, particularly, in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and Southern provinces.

According to the meteorology department, there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
