Police has announced that certain roads in Colombo will be closed for Vesak, which falls on May 10, and 11.
Accordingly, the following roads will be closed from 7 p.m. on the above-mentioned dates:
Bauddhaloka Mawatha – from Borella cemetery junction to Stanley Wijesundara junction.
Gregory’s Road - from Kinsey Road junction to Maitland Crescent junction.
James Peiris Mawatha- from the Slave Island roundabout to Piththala junction
Dawson’s Lane - from Union Place to Braybrook Place
Braybrook place - from Hyde Park road junction to Muttiah Road, Park Lane junction
Sri Jinaratne Mawatha - from James Peiris Mawatha junction to Park Lane junction
Chaithya Road - N.S.A. roundabout to Colombo Harbour
The Police has urged commuters to avoid using roads dense with traffic, to use public transport as much as possible and to avoid parking vehicles in unreserved places.
775 Police officers have been assigned duty to control traffic in respective areas.
