Kallady Sivananda National School emerged champions and walked away with the Siva Rama trophy for the second consecutive year when they beat their arch rivals, Akkaraipattu Ramakrishna Mission National School by 3-1 in the third edition of the Battle of the East soccer encounter worked off at the Sivananda grounds, Kallady recently.
Sivananda NS had the early advantage scoring 1-0 at half time and went on to score two more goals in the second half while leaving no room for opponents to open their account. Sivananda NS leading the tally 2-1 in the series now.
The soccer encounter was presided over by the Principal of the Sivananda school, S. Thayaparan. Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) donated footballs to the two schools during the award presentation. FFSL vice president N.T. Farook, Batticaloa District Footall Federation President M. Uthayakumar and Batticaloa Zonal Education Director K. Baskaran were among the guests.
