Six suspects of robberies arrested

Six men were arrested by the Mirihana Special Crime Investigation Unit for robberies carried out in various parts of the island.

The arrested are residents of Malabe, Balangoda, Biyagama, Kuliyapitiya and Dekaratana and they are suspected to carry out several robberies reported from Kahathuduwa, Biyagama, Mulleriyawa, Balangoda, Dehiwala, Kiribathgoda and Katana.

They allegedly carried out robberies by using rented luxury vehicles. A jeep, car, 60 grams of gold, two televisions, laptop, iPad, four mobile phones, three watches, two sinks, commode, sword and a manna knife were seized along with the suspects.

The suspects were produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate yesterday and ordered to be remanded till September 22.
