Insights on making English language teaching more engaging Oxford University Press (OUP), the world’s largest university press organized a first of its kind two day interactive English Language Teaching (ELT) workshop for school teachers in Sri Lanka on October 2 and 3 at Hotel Sapphire Galle Road, Colombo.
The workshop was conducted by OUP author and educationist Nicholas Horsburgh, and was attended by over 200 teachers from various prominent schools across the country.
The ELT workshop introduced teachers to latest interactive methodologies for English language teaching that would help them make learning more fun and engaging for children.
Nicholas captivated the minds of the teachers as he made them overcome their inhibitions by lacing his session with humor and excitement through creating live classroom imitations.
He further stressed on how learning could be a delightful experience when teachers understand thoughts of children and make them overcome their inhibitions by engaging them in classroom discussions.
He stressed how teachers should continuously introduce and innovate teaching methodologies to make learning among children a more stimulating and pleasurable experience.
Nicholas Horsburgh, is the author of New Oxford Modern English and Oxford Reading Circle, the most popular ELT courses among both teachers and students for almost three decades.
