In terms of the National Food Crops Growing Battle launched on the instruction of President Maithripala Sirisena, Anuradhapura Government Agent R. M. Wanninayake has taken into home gardening at the premises of his official bungalow in Anuradhapura city.
When we went to observe the home gardening program being embarked on by the government agent at his residence, he was seen engaged in soil preparation and planting activities. Wanninayake said that the main objective of his home gardening program was to make it exemplary to the government servants and the institutes in the district to follow him in this venture, as expected by the President and the government. He said further that the food crops growing program is now in progress in the premises of 22 Divisional Secretariat offices in the district.
