St. Johns - Nugegoda, Mahamaya - Kadawatha retain Aerobics titles

Aerobics Gymnastic Team of St. Johns’ College, Nugegoda won the Boys team championship

at the All Island Schools Aerobics Gymnastic competition for the 3rd year in succession while Mahamaya Girls College, Kadawatha won the Girls team Championship for the 8th successive year at the same tournament concluded on September 10 at the Kandy Municipal Indoor Sports Complex.

There were well over 2000 competitors (Girls & Boys) for this three day competition. The main organizer of this meet was the Chief Project Officer, Milroy Jayamanne an outstanding sportsman from Ananda College, Colombo. It was coordinated by Athula Jayawardena, Director of Sports, Dept. of Education(Central Province) assisted by M. Rizmey, Senior Officer of the Dept. of Education(CP).

The chief guest was the Director of Education (Central Province) E.P.T.K. Ekanayake. Lakwin Ranasinghe, former National gymnastic champion, S.Wasgewatte, Manager- Indoor Sports Complex (KMC) and Professor Soumitra Mondal- PhD in Physical Education & Sports (Exercise Physiology) from L.N.I.P.E.Gwalior, India - at present working as Associate Professor in Exercise Physiology at the University of Peradeniya were among the guests.
