SRI LANKA BLIND CRICKET TEAM TO PLAY AGAINST INDIA

The Sri Lanka blind cricket team will engage in a bilateral and triangular series comprising three one-day matches and five T20 games from October 4 to 27 in India.

The Bilateral Series will be held between October 4 to 27 at the SSE Ground Tanisandra Bangalore,” a media release from Sri Lanka Blind Cricket Association said.

According to the release, Sri Lanka would also play with England in the Triangular series and playing against India in the bilateral series.

Minister of Sports Faizer Mustapha also attended the press conference held at SLC premises on Wednesday. He said SLC have a responsibility to support Blind and differential able Cricket and most of the country was affliated to tho association with their Cricket Board.

SLC has been spending huge money for their project so I believe they don’t have an issue in supporting this sport he further said.

These Blind and differential able Cricketers and officials were begging from everyone to find the sponsorship and I requested SLC CEO Ashely de Silva to support them Earlier they agreed to support partly then I said its you’re responsibility to support them.

Manager of Sri Lanka team Chaminda Pushpakumara said, “The tournament would act as a platform to encourage new talent in the field of blind cricket and help towards the betterment of the game.

We have struggled to find the sponsors but the Minister made a huge effort to find us sponsors through Sri Lanka Cricket and I thank him on behalf of my association.

We have beaten India on a couple of occasions but they are number one in ranking and we are third. Also we didn’t play against England for the past four years but we beat England when we met last time said Manager of the Sri Lanka team.
