Turkish Embassy celebrates Republic Day

The Turkish Embassy celebrated Turkey’s Republic Day at Galle Face Hotel, Colombo recently

Turkish Ambassador Tunca Ozcuhadar read out the message of the Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and said Sri Lanka and Turkey enjoyed a good relationship. Turkey had helped those affected by the tsunami in Sri Lanka. Turkey also offered scholarships to Sri Lankan journalists to train in Turkey and donated media equipment to the Sri Lankan media. The Ambassador said Turkey also buys Sri Lankan tea and is involved in other projects in the country. He conveyed Turkey’s best wishes for peace, unity, harmony and progress to the Sri Lankan government and people.

Foreign Secretary Ravinatha Ariyasinghe, State Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Former Minister Prof. G.L. Pieris, diplomats and the corporate sector as well as Army, Navy, and Air Force chiefs were present at the celebrations.
