Cannabis dealer arrested

Excise officers in Hambantota arrested a suspect selling cannabis to cricketers, on Wednesday.

The cannabis dealer was arrested while he was transporting a stock of drugs weighing 1.2 kilograms.

Investigations revealed that the suspect, a 37-year-old father of two, had been involved in a large-scale cannabis trade. He is a resident of Hambantota.

Police said the suspect had acquired the drugs from India. He was to be produced at the Hambanthota Magistrate’s Court, yesterday. Police are investigating.
