Five German volleyball teams to tour Sri Lanka

Five German volleyball teams from Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hagen will tour Sri Lanka early next year.

The tours have been arranged by the Asian German Sports Exchange Programme to mark its 30th anniversary with the blessings of the Volleyball Federation of Sri Lanka.

During their tours the German teams will play against Sri Lankan teams from Colombo, Negombo, Puttalam, Kurunegala and Anuradhapura which will give Lankan teams the much needed exposure against foreign teams and enhance their performance when they take part in local tournaments.

A German Women’s Volleyball player Jennifer Schmidt who is presently in Sri Lanka is the Chief Co-ordinator of the tours and is taking great pains to make the tours a success Volleyball is considered as the National Sport of Sri Lanka and the visit of the German teams will give the Sri Lanka volleyball fans on opportunity to witness foreign teams in action in Sri Lanka. She also hopes to arrange reciprocal hours to the five German cities for the Lankan volleyball teams later next year which will give them the much needed foreign exposure.
