President at Somawathi Raja Maha Viharaya

President invoked the blessings of Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi of Anuradhapura yesterday
President Maithripala Sirisena participated in religious observances at historic Somawathi Raja Maha Viharaya , Polonnaruwa today to mark the commencement of duties for the New Year.
 
The President invoked blessings of Chief Incumbent of Somawathi Raja Maha Viharaya Ven. Pahamune Sri Sunangala Thera and Maha Sanga while participating in various religious observances. At the occasion, the Maha Sanga chanted Seth Pirith to invoke blessings to the President and the country.
 
Besides, the President took part in special Kapruk Pooja conducted to the ancient Somawathi Sthupa.
 
Meanwhile President Sirisena offered food to the devotees gathered at the Somawathi Raja Maha Viharaya making a commencement of a Dansala which organised by the Polonnaruwa Buddhist Society.  
President Sirisena while observing on-going construction of a Dharma Shalawa of the Somawathi Raja Majha Vihar premises, instructed the officials to expedite the construction being carried out under Pibidemu Polonnaruwa programme.
 
The President invoked the blessings of Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi of Anuradhapura also yesterday evening.
