The Attorney General has filed indictments against Kurunegala Mayor Tusara Sangeewa Vitharana and three others in the Kurunegala High Court for allegedly possessing an unlicensed pistol, threatening and stealing a motorcycle worth Rs. 84,000.
The case will be taken up for hearing on January 10, 2019, before Kurunegala High Court Judge Menaka Wijesundara.
Mayor Tusara Sangeewa Vitharana, H. P. Nihal Justin, Sumith Tharanga and Sunil Vitharana (father of the Mayor) were also indicted in the High Court for aiding and abetting this offence on September 6, 2007.
