IGP orders investigation

IGP Pujith Jayasundara has instructed Kurunegala Police to investigate the incident where two freshers of the Wayamba University were attacked recently.

The victims are currently receiving medical treatment at the Kuliyapitiya Hospital.

About seven senior students at the university, including a president of a students' union, are to be arrested over the attack. The attackers had damaged a car belonging to one of the students as well.

Kurunegala DIG Wasantha Kithsiri Jayalath, Kuliyapitiya SP Oshan Hewavitharana, and Kuliyapitiya Police OIC IP Ajith Priyantha are involved in the investigation.
